I really want to…. but I can’t

Maria Hicks

Do you talk yourself out of doing new things?

Many of my clients are very passionate about something but they seem to talk themselves out of doing it.

I really want to change my career, but I can’t because... I really want to start a new hobby, but I can’t because... I really want to live in the countryside, but I can’t because…

What is holding you back?

I'm pretty sure the answer to that is - limiting beliefs and fear.

As we experience life we build up beliefs about our own abilities and limiting beliefs creep into our lives. Perhaps a previous experience has left marks on our confidence or friend or family member makes negative remarks about our ideas and dreams which we hold very close. These lodge themselves in our subconscious mind and we start believing that these untrue, limiting beliefs are true.

What would you do if you had no fear?

That's something I ask my clients frequently. Many of us are held back by the fear of the unknown.

We think about something we want to do and then the doubt creeps on - what if this, what if that… And we are left with a fear of the theoretical which stops us.

But tell me something - can you tell the future? I thought not - so how you be so sure it will not be a huge success?
