One day or Day One? How to move out of procrastination mode and Do!

Maria Hicks

Every day is a learning day

If you find it hard to make decisions or feel stuck you’re not alone. Many people struggle to make even small decisions such as where to go for dinner while others find it tough to make medium decisions like buying a car or big decisions like changing jobs or moving house.

Of course some decisions warrant consideration, and others seem straightforward to other people and yet you just feel stuck. Here are a few tips on how to get unstuck.

Which future do you want?

Ask yourself - what would happen if I did? What would I gain if I make this happen, take the decision and do the work?

Ask yourself - what would happen if I didn’t? What will my life be like if I do nothing? Do what you’ve always done and have what you have always had. Is this acceptable to you?

These simple questions will help you figure out what you want your life to be, therefore if action is required.

Visualising your success

Close your eyes and imagine yourself making the decision, doing the tasks and going through the process and steps it takes to give you the outcome you want by making the decision. Now imagine that you get to the stage where you want to end up, and notice how happy you feel about that. How has this affected you?

Dial up the senses

Now, stay in the same moment, where you have achieved your outcome and look at the scene through your own eyes - look around you and notice what you see and hear around you and what emotions you feel.

Intensify any colours that you see, make them super bright and bold. And any sounds that you might hear, fine tune them so they’re crystal clear. Finally, any positive emotions which you feel, dial them up a notch so it’s swirling around your body and into your fingers and toes. Make the image bigger so this reality is super HD and huge.

Do something every day

You will notice that you feel super motivated and raring to go! Now is the time for action. Start doing something straight away while you still feel the buzz and do something, even if it’s small, every day. You will find that small steps will get you towards your goals faster than you expect.
